Reports Module Report Viewer

Thanks for the New Reporting Module.

I am trying to add the Reporting Services and Chart Visualizers to my dnn site.  In the install.txt file you have two steps that i am having trouble with.

Sept 2 is uploading the ReportViewer Assemblies.  I installed it on my local machine and went to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 folder, but i don't see any file or folder with the words ReportViewer Assemblies.  Do i uplad the entire [Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005] folder to my website.

Also in step 3, i don't see the Reporting Services folder.  Is this installing in a nother location.

Step 2 (Shared Hosts) - Install the Redistributable locally and copy/upload the ReportViewer Assemblies into your website's Bin folder.

Step 3 - Copy the "Reporting Services" folder in the DesktopModules/Reports/ExtVisualizers folder in your DotNetNuke installation to the DesktopModules/Reports/Visualizers folder.

Re: Reports Module Report Viewer
It would appear that the ReportViewer redistributable places its assemblies directly into the GAC, so they must be extracted from there. Unfortunately this is not very easy so I have two suggestions, you could either send an email or support ticket to your host asking if they can install the Microsoft ReportViewer Redistributable on your server (in fact, they may already have it installed). Or, you can use these steps to extract the assembly from the GAC and then upload them to the Bin folder:
  1. Go to the Start > Run box and enter "%systemroot%\assembly\GAC_MSIL" (this will open an explorer window to the inner sanctum of the GAC, DO NOT DELETE ANY FILES HERE), you must use the Run box because explorer hides these files from you
  2. Find the following folders: "Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common", "Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel", and "Microsoft.ReportViewer.Webforms"
  3. Open each folder, and then the folder inside that (which will start "8.0.0.0_") and you should find a DLL file, copy each of the DLL files to another location (say, your desktop).
  4. Upload the three DLLs: "Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll", "Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll", and "Microsoft.ReportViewer.Webforms.dll" to your Bin folder.
I realize this is somewhat of a hack, but the Microsoft Report Viewer Control can only be distributed in the package they post, so I can't just include the DLLs in the package. I will, however, try to find an easier way to do this.

As for your second problem, I have no idea why it wouldn't be there...does the ExtVisualizers folder and the Chart folder exist? Or do you not see them at all?

Re: Reports Module Report Viewer

Thanks to you i found the dll files.

I thought the "Reporting Services" folder was part of the Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable and not part of the Reports Module you created. I am uploading now.

Thanks again for all your help!
