UpdatePanel to dynamically change Flash video player

I have several ImageButtons of video thumbnails and an UpdatePanel [with UpdateMode="Conditional"] with an empty Div tag inside. When a thumbnail is clicked the code behind does the following steps:

  1. Linq call to the database to get the correct video file name.
  2. Create a String of "<object>...</object>" that is the code for the embedded Flash video player.
  3. Set the innerHTML of the Div in the UpdatePanel equal to the String I just created.
  4. Call UpdatePanel.Update().

The UpdatePanel updates and I can see the border of the Flash object, but player does not appear and no video plays. The <object> code is correct because I tested it alone in an HTML file and the player and video display properly. I have used UpdatePanels successfully. Is there something different with an <object> tag? Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.
