Implement a stand alone asp.net app that uses DNN database and providers 

I have the following scenario.

I need to write an asp.net (studio 2008) app that links into an existing DNN site.

The new asp.net app will look at the existing DNN database and use its membership and role providers.

Now what steps would I need to get this started?
