Document link redirects to main page

I'm running my company's intranet site and we're using DNN as the framework for it.  We use the document links in a lot of areas to direct users straight to the most used files without having to dig.  I've noticed that when using the document link, the first time a link is clicked or pasted into the address bar the user is directed to the main page of the site.  Any subsequent time any document link is accessed, the file download prompt comes up without issue.

This site is accessed by using the name http://supporthome but the servername and the name that is in the document links is blade58.  Could there be an issue going from one name to another?

Is anyone else having this issue?  Does anyone know what may be causing it?

Re: Document link redirects to main page

It sounds like a portal alias issue, when the first link is clicked DNN redirects to the proper domain, then you have to go to the page again to get the properly built link.

If you are accessing the site via http://supporthome, ensure that supporthome is listed in the PortalAlias table for your portal.

Re: Document link redirects to main page

Supporthome is listed in the portal alias list.  How do I change the default portal alias from blade58 to supporthome so that the document links automatically point to supporthome when they are displayed in the document details?

Re: Document link redirects to main page

Assuming you don't have direct access to the database to edit the portalalias table ('cause if you did, you could simply swap the portal alias id's)...,

Log in on something other than supporthome (maybe blade58) so that you can then delete blade58 as a portal alias - if it's a default, it means it is the topmost portal alias entry. And you can't delete a portal alias when that is the one you're logged in on.

That will bump the others up in the list, and since you don't mention any others, then hopefully supporthome jumps to the top?

Log in to the supporthome portal and create a portal alias for blade58 - it will be 2nd or more in the alias list, and no longer be a default.

Re: Document link redirects to main page

Ok, I switched the portal aliases so that supporthome is now number one in the list.  That seemed to resolve it right away.  Thanks for the help!
