Downloading Documents Slow

Kinda new at all this.

We have had a problem with documents that are large and the download times.  One in particular is 12 MB and just times out on download to users OUTSIDE our small network.  Slow, slow, slow.  Could the file manager be at fault?  If I just put a hyperlink to the document in our portal the doc (pdf) loads in a snap.  Please help.

Re: Downloading Documents Slow

Which version of DNN are you using?

There were some performance issues in the past with the way that file manager handled files...

Re: Downloading Documents Slow

The DNN is 04.08.00

It was a problem previously and after the upgrade last week it is still a problem.

Thx

Re: Downloading Documents Slow

I would check the <httpRuntime> section in the web.config.  There are settings for maxRequest and I believe maxResponse length.  You might need to expand the values on those settings.  By default they are 8192 if I recall correctly.  or 8MB.
