Sort order not working.

Hi guys...

I don't know if this is a known bug. But the sort order feature does not work at all.

I am using the documents modules on a Materials page, where want the most recently modified/created documents to come first. I also want the users to be able to reorder the documents (in case they are looking for a specific title).

However, after fiddling around with enabling and disabling the user sort and different sort orders with either 1 or more sort orders, I found that this feature is completely broken.... or my brain is completely broken ;-) ..... It always default sorts alphabetically.

It's quite a problem, since it makes the materials pages practically impossible to use properly.

Please verify...

Re: Sort order not working

As far as I know the current issue relates to the default sort order of the documents.  User sorting as far as I knew was working correctly.

We are hoping to get things resolved soon, but at this time we have NO eta or any additional information.

Re: Sort order not working

Mitch:

What do you mean by default sort order? Is that the Title?

As you can see on this page http://www.iar.ubc.ca/resources/publications/asiapacificreport.aspx I am sorting by the Description, but it looks like it is sorting by the Title and then Description.

On this page http://www.iar.ubc.ca/aboutus/annualreport.aspx I finally just incorporated how I wanted it sorted into the Title.

Can you provide further details about the best approach? I agree that the user sorting is working, but not as the primary sorting means. It seems to be secondary to the Title.

Thanks.

Cliff

Re: Sort order not working

Cliff,

At this time, the sort will always be by title, unless the user changes it.

For a workaround, the only real option at this time is to incorporate it in the title.  Your other option would be to manually modify the stored procedure to change the default sort order.

These are the only two options until a new release of the module is made.

Re: Sort order not working

Cool, I can probably deal with the SPROC as long as I don't have to get into any .NET code.

So I will try that and report back.

Thanks for the suggestion.
