Upgrading to 4.0 looses documents?

I'm quite new to DNN, so, it is probably user error, but...

I just upgraded to 4.00.00 and now I don't see any of my documents (they were all URLs).  I would assume that the info is still in the database somewhere, but, perhaps not!??!  I upgraded by going to the "Module Definitions" page and selecting "Install new Module".  The install seemed to have no problems/errors...

Thanks for any help on this...

BillBoe

p.s. It wasn't obvious how to to the upgrade.  I found the procedure above by doing a web search.  Shouldn't there be an "Upgrade" button on the "Modules Definition" page?

Per your described steps you followed the proper process to upgrade the site.

Do you see any errors?  Which version of DNN are you on?

Re: Upgrading to 4.0 looses documents?

Thanks Mitch for the reply.  I'm on 4.8.1 and I have seen no errors...  It isn't a big deal because I am still in development stage and I hadn't added that many docs.  I'm just a bit concerned about the next time I attempt an upgrade.  Perhaps I better figure out how to do a DNN backup!

Thanks again!

Billboe

Billboe,

Well I'm glad that you were not greatly affected by the error you experienced.  I will work to do some testing to see if I can recreate the error.

If you would like some help on how to backup DNN I have a tutorial avaialble on my site http://www.mitchelsellers.com that walks you through the entire process.
