The website date cant be coming form the viewers pc other wise there wouldnt be a need to set up the websites time zone (UTC) and as is needed the registered users time zone.  This way the web site can be hosted in a time zone location out site for the owners,  Like me.. I'm in Austalia and the site is hosted in the US and I can set the time on the site to reflect the local time in Oz not the time the the US and the different times for the registered users.   Its also another reason the date format is incorrect as it reflects a US date format not and Oz format.

Plus the calendar also allows for the off-setting of time with its own time zone selector. intelation to UTC and even with that set correctly the date in the calendar is out of sync

I'm sure I'm probably wrong about the website date, and you are right....I haven't looked at the code. However I know I am right for the calendar, since I've looked at the code. The timezone shown in setting up the calendar plays no part in selecting the initial date. I can start going into detail of where it is used if you would like...

On a side point, you can correct teh date format on your site from US to Oz format if you wish, just go into Host/Languages and add English(New Zealand). Then set your site to default to English(NZ) in Admin/Site Settings, and change all your users profiles over to English(NZ). You may or may not wish to disable browser language detection in the Host/Languages dialogue as well

Thanks you have provided plenty to think about and thanks to the tip on localisation.  The calendar time zone selector, I would be interested in knowing what its use is?.  Also  as you have so abely figures out the site is hosted at WH4L  and the site in question is of a local market in Australia I've set the time zone for the site to UTC +10 which does display the correct time for the east coast of Australia and the the data an time roll over at the correct times. 

I have talked to WH4L and they have confirment the time on the server is correct and I take your point that the calendar is taking the time from the server and not the time as set within the portal, as the DNN website can off-set the time difference but it would seem that the calendar dosnt as it is only taking the time from the server with out compensating the time for regional differences.

This is an issue as hosting and presentation can and are in different locations and time zones.  The calendar should use the time as set by the administrator in the portals admin settings.  And secondly the calendar should display the portals time to unauthenticated users.  Registered users the calendar should reflect the their time zone..

Hi,

No problem. I agree the calendar should use something use the calendar timezone or the user timezone, which is why I have raised the issue on Gemini, and pointed at this thread for the conversation..

The point of the timezone in the calendar, is to allow different calendar instances on a single portal to be set to different timezones. When merged, through sub-calendars, they are altered by their appropriate timezones. Also notifications are sent out based on the timezones. This isn't perfect, because DST processing isn't perfect DNN, but that is a different discussion.

Note that the times displayed on the calendar are not altered at all by user timezones, again this is a DST thing. When DST processing is accurate, this could be done. But for now, what you enter is what you see. The module admin, has the otions to display the module timezone in each event.

And by the way I meant en-AU, not en_NZ for the language.....

I have now posted a bug fix for this. It isn't perfect, but should be close enough. Perfect may not be possible until we get to .Net 3.x. I will post a blog on this when my server comes back up. Some details here - EVT-7666.
