Site freezes when start date popup clicked in 'add event'

My website freezes whenever I click the start date pop-up icon in the 'add event' view.  I have repeated this action twice and have had to go through task manager to close down my Internet Explorer browser.  Using DNN 4.7.0

Re: Site freezes when start date popup clicked in 'add event'

Hi,

could you please give some more details:

  • What Events module version do you have installed (can be seen in "Host > Module Definitions") ?
  • Does this happen on a live site that I could check?
  • Do you have other modules on the page together with the Events module?
  • Does the freeze happen with the start date popup only, or with all calendar popups? Does the popup open at all?
  • Do you get any error messages? As the popup is opened with JavaScript, it could be useful to activate script debugging in the IE settings.
  • And finally, what Internet Explorer version (6, 7, 8) do you use? Have you tried with another browser?

Re: Site freezes when start date popup clicked in 'add event'

The version is 4.00 -- but I just downloaded it and I think it was RC3.  There are no other modules on the same page.  The freeze was only happening with the start date popup, and not with the others.  No error messages appeared, nor javascript errors.  I am using IE 7.

The problem isn't reoccuring today (arrgh).  But I reloaded my browser several times to see if the problem duplicated and it did.  I know this kind of information is worthless... but will keep testing.

Jon

Re: Site freezes when start date popup clicked in 'add event'

Hi Jon,

thank you for the details! So far I couldn't reproduce the behaviour you described, so perhaps some more details could be helpful:

  • Did the freeze happen with all of your events, or in a single module instance only, or with a specific start date only? If it was with a specific date: which date was it, and what date format did it have (perhaps you entered it manually and didn't catch the correct format) ?
  • What's your portal language and timezone, and what's the timezone of the module instance?

If you can reproduce the issue during your tests, please let me know. Thanks again!

Re: Site freezes when start date popup clicked in 'add event'

I had a single instance of the module on the entire website.

I am central standard time, english language

I had pulled up a fresh "Add event" page, with no events yet added.  The very first thing I did was click the icon for start date, but that was the end ofthe road.  It literally froze up my entire IE explorer and I had to go through task manager to reboot IE.  Not able to reproduce again, but I sure had no problemt the first time around.  Will inform if any else is seen.
