Re: Fluttering

Hi Darnell,

I experienced this problem and corrected it, but can't for the life of me remember what I did to solve it.  You can read more about what I do remember here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/20/threadid/227701/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I believe it required changing a width setting in the css skin file.  Since this appears to be occurring in a core module-provided skin, this should be logged in Gemini.

Re: Fluttering

Hi Darnell,

having read Brandon Haynes' post in thread "Flickering like crazy!", I visited your site with IE/ and saw indeed a short (< 1s) fluttering around the table cells for days 21 and 28 (June 2008). It seemed that IE7 couldn't decide right away which table cells should get scrollbars, and which shouldn't, and quickly tried several options, but this stopped after the page was completely loaded and rendered. (BTW, Firefox 2 didn't show this effect.)

Brandons description, however, seemed to indicate that he got an endless ("circular" in his words) flickering, which I didn't see on your site, and also couldn't reproduce on my test site (using DNN Blue skin/container). Do I miss something?

Re: Fluttering

Hi Michael,

You're correct, in my environment the flickering was cyclical and endless.  Interestingly, when I originally opened up wetmountainvalley.net (before posting my original response above) the flickering was repetitive there as well.  Presumably the addition of subsequent events ended this -- I do recall reproducing the behavior to be very touchy and contextual.  You're also correct that the problem does not manifest in Firefox.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the fix involved changing the width, overflow, or some similar css element.  Because I was using a custom internally-developed skin at the time, I didn't think to record the solution, and assumed that it was only affecting that particular skin.

Regardless, this is a real issue.  The next time I see it happening, I'll download a page copy and see if I can't reproduce the correction.

Believe me, it was flickering incontrollable. What I did was delete some of the entries on June 13th, and14th. When I did that, the flickering seemed to resolve. I am sure if I returned all the events on June 14th, the uncontrolled flickering would continue.
