Need DNN Events feature

I am a technician for Central School District 13J Oregon USA.

We are using DNN and the events module.

We are looking for a developer to add a needed feature to the events module.

Our school district has a modest budget for software

and would like pay for a small custom feature to be added.

Our issue is this: Some events do not have "a time."

This is what we want added: When Adding an Event, I would like a check box that enables and disables showing the time in the event detail,  tool tips, and the list view.

Please let me know approximately how much this will cost, how long, and how best to pay you.

If you do not do custom work, could you direct me to someone who may?

Thanks,

Jachin Crawford

Re: Need DNN Events feature

Hi Jachin,

I cannot comment on whether someone in the project team (or outside) will or won't do what you have asked. To be honest this is a relatively simple task so you shouldn't expect to pay too much for the work, but that depends on the support you expect afterwards. The issue as always, is that this then becomes a custom version of the module, which you cannot be sure will be upgradeable to a futire version with the same level of capability.

One thing I would say is that we would expect that this capability will be added with the 4.1.0 version since we plan to template the view you are talking about, however this will be some months away.

Cheers
Roger

Re: Need DNN Events feature

Hi Jachin,

Looked at this again. Doing this for all events is a minor issue. Doing on a per event basis is more complex, since this will involve a database change and some altering of how data is processed before display. Per evcent capability is less likely to be included in the 4.1.0 release.

Cheers
Roger

Here is how I handled a similar problem. I wanted to add the ability to add notes to the calendar, but I also added an "All day" option as well.

Internally the events database stores the start datetime and the duration, but on the form you are asked to input the start time and the end time. I replaced the end time with a duration dropdown box. Like this

Duration:

All Day
Notes (no duration)
30 min
1 hour
1 hr 30 min
...

When the detail view sees a duration of 0 it replaces the end time with the word "Notes". When it sees a duration of 24 hours the end time is "All Day".

Re: Need DNN Events feature

Hi Dan,

This sounds like a good idea.I know you have submitted some code to Ernst Peter, which we will be looking at seriously for including elements into the next release. I assume this is one element of your code.

It would be great to have you on the project team!!

Cheers
Roger
