Re: Suggested Features
Modified By Alan Vance on 2/6/2006 11:19:48 AM)

Paul, one of the reasons I haven't released the source code yet (fully intend on it)...is I'm hoping to gain support of other developers that have a real interest in supporting the module as a team, instead of splintering (multiple versions).  I am working to get all of the kinks out of the 3.2 version and fully support all of the DNN Module features.  Then:

1) The Source will be posted on the internal DNN Project Site (for Event Project Developers)
2) The module will then be modified to support the existing DNN Event module migration to the this module
3) A Roadmap will be defined for new features and tasks handed out to the team for development of the next release(s)
4) Releases of the module will be fully documented and source code available to all developers.

Some of the features you discussed are great features...Have you (and other developers) signed up for the Module Team?  Please consider it.  I'm looking for help on organizing the team and helping to define the direction/roadmap.  All functions must fully support localization/cultures, just like DNN and existing Event/Calendar functions.  I believe this thing can only grow if it is a team effort...just like DNN...otherwise we'll get a lot of versions and users will be confused and left with poor support.

Re: Suggested Features

Alan,

Here are some more requests to bug you some more.  I have downloaded beta4a and these are some features I did not see in this version.  These are all a nice to have.

  1. On the list view it will be nice to pick between a datagrid and a repeater that is based on a template.  Here is an example:
    Header: <table>
    Item: <tr><td nowrap><a href="[URL]">[STARTDATE] [STARTTIME]</a> - [TITLE] [IF:SUBMODULE]([SUBMODULE])[ENDIF:SUBMODULE]</td></tr>
    Footer: </table>
  2. A template for the detail view would be nice also. No header or footer needed because it is not repeating.
  3. I am having problems with the calendar list view for a master calendar that has a bunch of sub calendars.  I am able to see the sub calendar's events for today only and not for tomorrow and beyond.  I am not sure that was done intentionally or a flaw. My settings for the calendar list are: select the next 7 events within the next 365 days. On one of your previous versions I had to go and fix one line of code. easy fix.
  4. I have a bunch of people adding and editing events and they are finding it very tedious and hard to find the edit links. What is my suggestion to fix this? I don't know. Maybe a Calendar "list view" on the Calendar module itself, not the Calendar List module.

That is all i can think of right now.  Great work on the module so far.  I would love to help out if i can.  Please let me know what would be the process to a developer on your team.  I have worked on your older module and I know how it works pretty well.

Steve

Re: Suggested Features

Good suggestions...I am getting overwhelmed with the module.  I have a bunch of requests...the hardest peices that continually byte me in the butt are considerations for localization...very tedious and time-consumming.  I really need another developer that can help code/debug/test for diff. languages, date formats, etc.
