Problem using tables - not resizing to fill the page 

Hello -

I've been playing around in the text editor and can't seem to fix my issue.  I have a table that I want to fill the width of the page.  However the pane with the table (the top pane) does not  fill the screen.  It stops short on the right hand side.  I tried changing the widths on the table to be 100%.  It's only a two column table so I went through all the cells and made sure they are 50%.  I still can't get the table to expand.  Can anyone help with some piece of functionality I'm missing?  Any help would be appreciated.
