no permissions to insert image in a child portal for administrator - yet can do it as host

Hello, I'm using dnn version 3.1.1

I created a child portal - and now I cannot insert images - I get the "you do not have permissions to upload images".  I also cannot view icons in page settings for the same reason.  Additionally, I cannot insert an image because as soon as I click the image gallery - it tells me there are no images in Portals/2

This definitely seems like a permissions problem, but I don't know what to change to fix this.

  • I've checked to make sure that the user is an administrator and should be able to edit;
  • I can login as host and insert images - so it's got to be permission related????

Please help.

Dan

Dan, were you able to resolve this issue? I am having the exact same problem.

Thanks

Re: no permissions to insert image in a child portal for administrator - yet can do it as host
I was able to solve this problem. I noticed that the administrator can see the child portal's files if  they used the admin "Files" utility. Using the "Files" utility I gave read and write permissions to the "registered users" role. After that everything worked as expected.

Obviously depending on your situation you may want to be more selective on who you give read/write permissions to.

Re: no permissions to insert image in a child portal for administrator - yet can do it as host

Thanks Dan,

I will keep this possibility in mind.  I'm not sure how I was able to solve this problem.  I asked my host about it and he mentioned something about granting full-trust in the permissions????

Then, my host moved all servers in an upgrade - and since then, everything has worked correctly.  I'm still foggy on what went wrong - but it was definitely a permissions problem that only the host had control over.

Thanks for the reply

Dan

Re: no permissions to insert image in a child portal for administrator - yet can do it as host

I'm not sure how it was solved - i know my host had to change a setting to full trust or something like that - and then my host moved their entire farm in an upgrade - and since then, my problem has been eliminated.  Definitely a permissions problem though.

Thanks for your reply

Dan
