Adding image causes error, module doesn't display
Using DNN 4 & mssql 2000: When I use the rich text editor (or add the html myself) to add an image in the html module (an image that has previously uploaded), the rich text editor displays the image just fine, but when I update the module, the module gets an error and doesn't display, instead giving the error message "An error has occured", "Error: *moduleTitle* is currently unavailable" When I go back to edit text, there is the image, displaying just fine. It just won't display outside the editor. I tried an externally hosted link as well (to google's logo), same results. Any clues/ideas to point me in the right direction?

Re: Adding image causes error, module doesn't display
Has anyone come up with an answer to this?  I have the same problem, using DNN 4.0.2, but only in the portals that I've created from my "base" site.  In the original site, text/html boxes work fine, but in the two portals, they give the following information:
Error: Text/HTML is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: StartIndex cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: startIndex ---> System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: StartIndex cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: startIndex at System.String.InternalSubStringWithChecks(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length, Boolean fAlwaysCopy) at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.HtmlModule.ManageUploadDirectory(String strHTML, String strUploadDirectory) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.HtmlModule.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
This problem exists with any image, whether trying to load an image stored in the portal's directory, or an image from another hosting location altogether.  Ideas?

Thanks,

Rich

Re: Adding image causes error, module doesn't display
Ok - I did some more searching - funny how entering just the exact right search term gets you what you want....  Searching should be considered an art form ;)

Here's what I found that fixed mine - in my particular use I had changed the home directories for the portals, and they were not in the Portals folder.  That was the problem.  This begs the question - "If the portals don't work properly if you don't put them in the Portals folder, why do you get the option to create them in a different folder?"

Thats exactly what fixed it for me. Using a custom directory for the portal makes the text/html module break for images. Moving it 'back' to an automatically numbered portal fixes it.
