Allow View users to Print

All,

I am using the latest Text/HTML module with DNN 3.1.1.  One module has a lot of information and extends past the end of the page in my portal.  It scrolls fine, but when doing a print preview, it gets cut off.

A couple of people have edit rights and they are able to click the menu drop-down on the module and click print, which renders the control in a new window that can be printed.

Standard users, who only have view permission do not get the drop-down so they cannot print the entire module.

How can I allow standard view users access to the menu with just the print option, or is there something I can add to the skin for printing?

Thank you,

Nathan

Re: Allow View users to Print

Nathan,

sure the default container include this option already.

This is a container issue and not a skin issue, have a look to one of the default container sources:

id="dnnACTIONBUTTON3" CommandName="PrintModule.Action" DisplayIcon="True" DisplayLink="False" />

regards

HP

Re: Allow View users to Print
Could you please give me a little more info on this - on my website I cannot get the menu to appear at all when the user has view but not edit permissions, so the problem is not the container, but its something to do with the permissions granted to a user at the time the Menu is being bound.

Re: Allow View users to Print

Ensure these Module Settings are checked: Display Container and Allow Print. This should then display the Print icon in the container. The container needs to include the [PRINT] token.

Re: Allow View users to Print
unfortunately, there is an open issue (see http://support.dotnetnuke.com/Default.aspx?p=2&i=4011), that is preventing the menut to show up, if a user does not have edit permission for the module. the sole circumvention I know is to add a printer command to the containter as the default DnnBlue container does. (Though I prefer to use TemplatePrint from DnnJungle instead of the default print action)
