Lost information after update to new Text/HTML version.

While doing a upgrade to our text/html module, it seems that we have lost all text/html modules through out one of our portals.  I am curious to where all the information would be stored in the DB, and if it is possible to restore that information into new text/html modules, or if I need to re-create all these.  If I need to recreate these, it would be quite easy as long as I know where I can find the data that goes into these modules from the database.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Lost information after update to new Text/HTML version.

How did you upgrade? if you deleted the Module Definition, all instanced have been deleted and you need to restore latest backup.

To perform an upgrade, simply install the new module version, but always make sure, your portal is running an appropriate version (Text/HTML 4.5.0 required DNN 4.5.0+, Text/HTML 4.6.x required DNN 4.6.0+).

Re: Lost information after update to new Text/HTML version.

I did a upgrade to the module, n ot a removal of definition.

This was done about 3 months ago and have been running DNN v. 4.04.01

The text/html version is 3.03.00

Unfortunately, due to oversight, I never checked that site to make sure all was ok, and restore of a backup is now not an option as the backups have been re-written with the degredated version of the site (only hold backups for 60 days)

Is there any way to extract the data from the db into the modules?  or must I re-write?

Re: Lost information after update to new Text/HTML version.

if you are still running Text/HTML 3.3.0, there shall be no issue with DNN 4.4.1. If you upgraded Text/HTML to version 4.5.0, you need to upgrade DotNetNuke at least to version 4.5.0, I suggest 4.5.5 or 4.6.2

Re: Lost information after update to new Text/HTML version.

Sebastian,
I made upgrade Text/HTML to version 04.05.00 today. First my web site was down (Compilation Error) and I find this problem was solved with delete two DLL files. I do it, web site is running but I lost all link to the pictures. Now I read about DNN upgrade, but dont do it yet. First I need very clear help from you, if DNN upgrade to higher version is good and safety solution.
Until this time I don´t delete nothing more, only two DLL as described above. There are my steps:
- upgrade Text/HTML module to version 04.05.00 everything was OK without errors
- upgrade was done via Module definition as upload ZIP file
- delete two DLL files

Please do write me clear help step by step, if is better upgrade DNN to new higher version and which one (4.6.2 or 4.7.0)

My configuration:
DNN version    04.04.01
Text/HTML ver  04.05.00

Many thanks,
Petr.
