this might be a version conflict, Text/HTML 4.5.0 can be used on DNN 4.5.0 and later, Text/HTML 4.6.x on DNN 4.6.0 and later only.

Loaded DNN 4.6.2, upgraded modules to reflect text/html module as 4.6.1. The error persists. What I have seen is that the website files that 4.6.1 points to is still an old site at C:\dnn441 and it should be c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnn  ..... how do we change the website files associated with the module such that  this file  - "C:\DNN441\website\DesktopModules\HTML\HtmlModule.ascx.vb" is not called for or referenced. Are there any other files that we need to delete or settings that we need to change?

I made the mistake of installing Text/HTML 4.05 to my DNN 4.04.01 installation and received this error as well.  FYI for anyone else who encounters this error, here's what I did (although maybe not the best solution) to revert to my old version (3.03):

1. Remove the "HTML" folder from the "App_Code" folder.
2. Remove the new version of the "HTML" folder from the DesktopModules folder and replace with a 3.03 version.
3. Remove the following line from the <codeSubDirectories> of your web.config:       <add directoryName="HTML" />
4. Update the version # in the DesktopModules table to be: 03.03.00
