Question about the use of IFrame module

First of all I really appreciate the work that everyone has put into DNN so thankyou all. I am developing an intranet site using DNN as the wrapper around several exisitng typical OLTP web projects.I use the IFrame module to host these in. My first question: is there a better way to do this. It seemed that developing modules would not be the right approach since they are so specialized. My second question, if this approach is intended, how would I get the User information of the DNN user that is accessing my web application in the IFrame. I need this for a simple document version control app that I developed so that I can associate document checkin and checkouts to specific user. I have tried using UserController class and also HttpContext although I admit that I may not have done it correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is not currently possible, then I would like to suggest that an easy way to get user info be developed.

Re: Question about the use of IFrame module

Jerrel,
The only thing I can think of to use the Iframe module for this is to have a develop a custom Iframe module that passes the DNN username as a querystring entry (programatically) and then your application can grab the username from the querystring.

I seem to remember someone on the asp.net forums who had developed some solution to use Iframes similar to how you want, but I can't find the link.
