Extreme newb question.. want to add file extentions for different video types

Hello Folks,

My first post here.  I have just agreed to help someone with an existing DNN site.   I have a fair amount of web experience but none with DNN.  At this point I'm just trying to add a video to the site.  They have the media module installed but apparently I need to add the file extention in the host settings first right?

This is kind of embarrasing but I can't even find the host settings.  I have "Site Settings" under the "admin" button but nothing in there seems to be what I'm looking for.  Can anyone please point me in the right direction?  Thank much in advance!

Re: Extreme newb question.. want to add file extentions for different video types

Hi JBurnard,

You are correct that this setting is located under Host->Host Settings.  Once you get there, look under Advanced Settings->Other Settings->File Upload Extensions.

However, based on your description, it is clear that you aren't logged in as a host user.  DNN has two levels of "administrators" -- admin accounts and host accounts.  Admins administrate a single portal, while hosts administrate the entire DNN installation.

Your first step will to be to get the host account information and log in using those credentials.  If you are not able to do so, let me know and I can guide you to make the change directly in the database.

Hope this gets you started!

Brandon

Re: Extreme newb question.. want to add file extentions for different video types

Hi Brandon,

Thanks much for this info, that's exactly what I needed to know.  I'll go to the folks that own the site and see if I can get that info.  If not I'll report back and see what can be done from there.  Thanks again!

Jim
