Getting rid of LinkClick.aspx

I understand that if you want Google to index your pdfs in the Links module that you can't have 'LinkClick.aspx' in the URL for the PDF.

So, I unchecked these two boxes

Re: Getting rid of LinkClick.aspx

Lisa, I have the same problem. But I do not have the box checked: Open Link in New Browser Window. My link settings are simply: Link Type: File (a file on my site); where I browse to the file and the link renders as: /LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=19ZSKtRQ1lQ%3d&tabid=809&mid=2277. You can hard code the link by using LinkType: URL. That is working for me. But you still have the problem with not being able to open the link in a new window - if that is important to you. I'll probably abandon the Links Module and use Text/HTML instead.

Re: Getting rid of LinkClick.aspx

yes, this module is anti-google and should be fixed asap. DotNetNuke is loosing compatibility with Google quickly and this is hurting Google ranking.

regards, Mark

Re: Getting rid of LinkClick.aspx

I have gone through all my links and changed the files to URLS.  This has removed all the linkclinks.  However, google is still not indexing the files.  I'm using google search on my site and what all the articles to be searchable to visitors.  What do I need to do to get all the articles indexed using the Links module?  If this is NOT possible what other suggestions do you have?

Thanks,

Lisa

Re: Getting rid of LinkClick.aspx

Linkclick provides you with the advantage to keep the link targeting to your file, even if you move it around in the folders of your site and you can point as well to files in secure folders. However, I agree, that this does not support searchability by spiders, i.e. you should consider to utilize Text/HTML or UserDefinedTable (with data  type URL instead of download for the same reason).
