As of right now this functionality is not available with the core links module.

You could do some fairly simple customization to accomplish it

Ok I cannot do the customization, so please let me know if there is such a link module available anywhere, which allows this functionality. Thanks.

You could do this and much more very easily with XMOD with little development knowledge.

What is XMOD? Is it that easy to make custom modules with it? I have no experience, whatsoever, about programming anything. I cant even program my DVD player, so be accurate. So is XMOD for dummies?

You can find XMOD here. It is a very useful module and is actually developed by a fellow Arizonan. it might be exactly what you are looking for.

Re: Can I do this? Allow users to add links!

XMOD is a module that you can purchase at snowcovered (its their most popular module right now)

http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=7793

You install it like any other module, but it allows you to build forms using basic html and display their content on your pages. That said if you are struggling to program your DVD player it could be argued that setting up DNN would be a stretch

Its somewhat hard to describe what can be done with xmod because it is very different for everyone and if its done right no one would ever know you are running it.

If you are interested and I have time tonight I may be able to create a sample on my site. to show how it owuld work. No promises as I leave for a mini vacation tomorrow for a couple days and have a few things to get ready.

Let me know.

Thanks for offering to help me, but, unfortunately, I am leaving for SF right now, as soon as I finish typing this. I will be back on Monday and I will contact you.

Have a nice mini vacation.
