Road Map

The Links Module has been a red-headed step child for too long. Future functionality to be added over the next few months will be:

  • Image Links - This would allow you to create links that are nothing more than images. This could be useful for someone wanting to create a side navigation.
  • Multiple Link Creation - One complaint a lot of users have is the constant postbacks to the server during the creation process this would help get rid of this problem by allowing them to create multiple links at once.
  • Links with Icons - Often time users want to create a link that has an image (icon) associated with it, along with some text.
  • Templates - The current links module is very limiting in what can be done style wise. With a flexible templating system, this would allow the user to specify how they want the links to display. The system will be friendly to all users, not just DNN experts.
  • AJAX - There are many areas on the module that could take advantage of this, from displaying more information (...) to creation of links.

The above items come from suggestions in the forums, requests from other project leads, as well as the Links team. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact me directly at awhittington (at) crystaltech.com. All feedback is encouraged and welcomed.
