Repository Template help - Expand/Hide descriptions
Modified By Paul Sellers on 4/28/2007 2:44:04 PM)

I am trying to expand or hide descriptions of resources (Web Links)  using the directory template.  An example site can be found here:

http://www.fsalliance.net/FileLibrary/Downloads/tabid/61/Default.aspx?grm2id=697

What do i need to add/modify in my template to accomplish this?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Steve,

Thanks for sending me in the right direction, unfortunately my best work at merging the xml/html code from the articles template into the directory template has left me with the following results:

1) In IE - I get a javascript error when clicking the link.  A new window does not open and the error code says "object expected."

2) FF - the link is non-clickable.  It just doesn't do anything and doesn't give me any clues related to the behavior.  You can check it out here:

I would also like to change the text from "read article" to "read description."  Is this in a vb file?

Thanks for all your help.  I consider this module to be one of the best user features of our site.

Paul

Re: Repository Template help - Expand/Hide descriptions

Paul,
I took a quick look at your site, I think the problem is that you haven't included the javacscript file that provides the show/hide function itself.  Look at the header.html file in the article template, copy the show() javascript function and paste it into your header.html file.

The text for the label is stored in the /DesktopModules/Repository/App_LocalResources/Repository.ascx.resx fil

 <data name="ReadArticle.Text">
  <value>read article</value>
 </data>
 <data name="HideArticle.Text">
  <value>close article</value>
 </data>

Re: Repository Template help - Expand/Hide descriptions

Thanks Steve...I should have seen that one.  It was a late night.  It works perfectly.

I must admit, this is one of the most responsive project forums that I've come across.  Thanks for really reading my post and then responding with clear and concise instructions.

Great work!

Paul
