PERMALINK Question

I would like give the ability to use the permalink token to certain users, but hide the token for others (similar to the edit token).  Is this possible?  Has anyone put in this functionality into their site?

Thanks.

Re: PERMALINK Question

No, I never done this, but I do not understand the reason. If someone does not have the permalink, but he does a search, he will find the item (with the link). So what os the goal ???

Re: PERMALINK Question

yes it's possible.

Every token looks for a setting in the xml file named "Roles" if found, then only people in the roles will see the token as rendered,

For example: having the setting below in your template.xml file will result in only members of the "Subscribers" role to see the Permalink. You can include multiple roles if you separate them with commas.

 <Object>
  <Token>[PERMALINK]</Token>
  <Settings>
   <Setting>
    <Name>Roles</Name>
    <Value>Subscribers</Value>
   </Setting>
  </Settings>
 </Object>

Re: PERMALINK Question

A cleaner user experience.  I am using this on an Intranet, with HR being the heavy user for the Repository Module.  It would be nice to allow HR staff the ability to send out a link straight to a file, without the Permalink icon/wording confusing the average (or below average) end user.
