Can't edit Repository Description and other strange happenings

Hi, I have a strange problem. I've upgraded from 4.4.1 to 4.8 (using install, not upgrade kit), which previously had Repository 3.1.13 installed and some existing repositories set up. Everything else in the site seems to be OK.

However, since upgrading, changes I make to the Repository Description text don't get saved. Same for changes to Roles, e.g. for Rating or Comment. Strangely I can change the skin, and uploaded files seem OK, inc. their description text sticking.

When I create a new repository, I can change the Roles and they stick, but nothing is saved in the Repository Description text box. Uploading also works.

Any ideas? Is it a permissions thing? No errors appear and nothing is in the Event Log. Might it have something to do with FCK (well at least the text aspects - doesn't explain the Roles issue)?

Further info: I just did a fresh install of 4.8.0 to localhost, installed Repository 3.1.13 that came with it, and edits to Repository Description are not saved.

Also should mention that FCK works fine elsewhere in the sites.

Re: Can't edit Repository Description and other strange happenings

Further info : (hopefully I'll stop having this conversation with myself soon!)

For the fresh 4.8 and 3.1.13 installation on localhost, I've discovered that I can enter text in the Repository Description field when it is set to use Basic Tex Box and the text stays and is displayed. When I then try and edit it with Rich Text Editor, the edits are not saved. I'm using default everything, i.e. skin, etc. Also FCK is working well through the rest of the site, including for descriptions of items when uploaded to the repository!

Please help - this is stopping our use of the Repository module on our production web-site.
