Re: Couldn't read the type...

Tomas,

3.x modules are not supported inside VS2005. I am going to release a 4.x module very soon, but in the mean time I would suggest that you don't install the xml module inside your developing installation.

Open it in your browser and everything will be fine.

forms & Lists (UDT5.0) will be the next major release of the User Defined Table project.
A first Preview is available, though it requires DotnetNuke 5 (Beta 5).

Re: Couldn't read the type...

OK.

I 'm sorry I'm brand new to VS2005 and all it's features, and to programming as well.

I saw when I examend the error this message:
Error 2 File 'ParameterEditor.ascx.vb' was not found. C:\Documents and Settings\My Profile\My Documents\DNN\DesktopModules\XML\ParameterEditor.ascx 2 63 C:\...\DNN\

Re: Couldn't read the type...

Has this problem been fixed yet, because I'm getting the same error message

  • Which DotNetNuke version are you running? 4.4.1
  • Did you install the module the common way (using host->modules?) Yes
  • What do you mean by trying to start DNN (without debugging)? In VS200

thank you, Jamie

Re: Couldn't read the type...

You really must understand that this is NO issue. Xml03.03.00 is an old fashioned DNN3.x module, never designed to run inside VS2005.

  • Don't install XML03.03.00 on your development machine if you are working with VS2005
    or
  • ignore that message. Don't run your DotNetNuke 4.x using F5 or "run" in your enviroment.
Use Crtl+F5 instead to start DNN
    or
  • upgrade on your own using the module upgrade wizard
    or
  • wait for XML04.03.01, which was already uploaded to the release tracker.might happen to all DNN3.x/VS2004 modules inside VS2005.

Please note that this kind of error messages inside VS2005 might happen with every DNN3.x/VS2003 module, it is not related  to the Xml Module itself.
