Hello,

I am also one of these persons who encounters this @##!@!@ error :)

I have tried the above, but it did not work. It still give the error. I also have tried the microsoft tips and many many others...

(When I type http://localhost/ it also does not act normal, I get this error msg in the browser: http/1.1 new application failed (translated from dutch, because I have dutch windows XP prof)

Anyone another suggestion to solve this problem?

I enocuntered the same issue.  I saw this error for the first time ever (after many, many installs of various DNN versions over past few years) when initially connecting to a new 4.8.4 DNN instance.  My error happened under WinXP SP2 running as a virtual PC.  Major installed apps were IIS 5.1, SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005.

Unregistering and re-registering the ASPNET 2.0 framework per Mitch Sellers' suggestion did the trick.  Thanks Mitch!
