Thanks folks for the replies. Not worrying so much about which version the installer I'm using is actually installing, just posting some notes on how it went, and a couple of questions. Like I said, the whole installation process has come a long way from the early days, and it's a big improvement.
Still a little confused, though on the usage. Sebastian says that the new DNN version will take care of installation chores, but the readme.txt file says to do the steps manually. So, it's kinda confusing to know just what steps to take.
When I installed the rc3 version, I manually created the db and site, as instructed by the readme.txt. Then, the installer wizard took me through some questions that seemed unnecessary, since I already had done the manual db, IIS, and permissions chores. I can understand that maybe the ReadMe.txt is not yet updated with new info, which is why I'm asking.
Now, I used the installer app, and it installed the version it said it would, so no worries here, just a bit confused as to which method is used when. Manual installation is old hat for me, but for newbies and for all of the various hosters, it would seem a little more clarification is needed, and probably in the works, just wanted to get some info on it from folks who are already doing it.
Either way, it's pretty cool stuff. The install wizard, and the installer app are going to be very much appreciated.
