wizard i infiinte loop at "Run Database Installation Scripts"

I'm trying to install DNN 4.5.1 on Win XP Pro, MSSQL2000, IIS 5.1 on my own machine.

The wizard works great.  The file permission test works fine. The database connection reports sucess.  My database is called dnndjc with a user named dnnuser who has a password dnnuser.   I've created that user and given it access and many permissions for dnndjc.

At the wizard step "Run Database Installation Scripts", it eventually says:

"Completed Installing Database Scripts"

and in the box it says:

"Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...undefined...Success

Installation of Database Complete"

and the Next button is active. Clicking on next causes this step to simply repeat.  Clicking on next forever won't get any further. I sucspect that the "undefined" word in the output is actually bad and that "Success" reported is probably not.  But what should I do?

thanks

-dave

Consider me in the infinite loop club too!

A friend suggested installing the previous version and then upgrading - which does work - however I'd like to know how to get around this so I don't have to re-upload everything to my site

Re: wizard i infiinte loop at "Run Database Installation Scripts"

At one point I also had the same issue.

I fiddled around with permissions - made sure the dbuser I created had dbo permission, then all worked fine.

I suggest you play around with that a bit.

I had the same problem. Started again with DBO box ticked, and also ran installation in IE rather than Firefox. I'm not sure which did the trick, but it worked.

Re: wizard i infiinte loop at "Run Database Installation Scripts"

Once you gotten to the page witrh "infinite loop" track back using back button up to the initial page and select Auto instead. At that point your connection string and other settings are already saved to web.config, so Auto will just run and do what you wanted.

Not sure why, but on local machine, it always gives me that problem. I never had it out on a remote server, though.

Also, it is hardly an infinite loop. It seems to me that the wizard just dies internally for some odd reason and, since I got the workaround, i just don't care to dig any deeper. :)
