Re: First public beta of the installer available now
I actually got it to work.  The install did not create the virtual site in IIS, so I did it manually.  Still it did not work.  I changed localhost to the server name and added  \install\install.aspx?mode=install and it installed.

What Microsoft SQL software did your installer actually load on the server?

I am not sure about the page cannot be found error, others have reported it also.
I think it is an IIS problem on your setup, just not sure what.

Does IIS work in general (does it show http://localhost/DotnetNuke/403-3.htm for example)?
What happens if you try http://localhost/DotNetNuke/default.aspx directly ?

About the Sql Express setting in web.config, this is only a comment (because I cannot uncomment the SQL 2000 connection string and use that I simply change the uncommented connection string (which happens to be the SQL Express connection string sample)).

Not sure what you mean with the database instance name.
Would it be possible to send me the setup logfile (high level) ?

GeertATcyberhuisDOTcom

I've had a similar problem, W3K, virgin machine.  The install went out and grabbed SQL Exchange and .Net 2.0 (very nice).  I configured the SQL install to use Windows Authentication.

IIS is working, the http://localhost/DotnetNuke/403-3.htm loads the correctly.  I tried adding the Network Service users but that made no difference.  Still when going to http://locaalhost/DotNetNuke/default.aspx I get the 404 page not found error.

The DotNetNuke.mdf database was created by SQL Express.  Below is the Web.Confg file.  Any help with the issue would be appreciated.

Re: First public beta of the installer available now

As some people above my installation went with no errors: i even see the first page after the ddn scripts have ran.

Unfortunately after following the logon link it directs me to the default iis "page not found" page. Not sure if this is an Installer issue, or a PEBKAC, just thought to mention it.

Winxp pro sp2 + iis, sqlexpress, Sample_Normal_Install.bat (high logging)

Well done so far Geert!

Re: First public beta of the installer available now

I guess I you get to the web-bases installation part (where the SQL scripts are run etc.) it's not the installer that is causing this.

Would it be posible to provide me with a screendump of the error?
And maybe you could send me the logfile that was created by the installer ?

You can send it to geertATcyberhuisDOTcom
