Error: The XML page cannot be displayed

Just used the beta installer and got this error when attempting to access localhost/dotnetnuke for the first time. I used all default settings in the installer. Config: Tablet PC running XP Pro; SQL Server Express; IIS installed

Any ideas?

Re: Error: The XML page cannot be displayed
Assuming that the names are valid xml, which I think is likely, that kind of xml parsing error typically means that it is assuming the wrong encoding of the file.
I would try opening the file in notepad and doing "save as" so you can specify to save it with a specified encoding. Try utf-8, or utf-16 with byte order mark (bom).
I assume the web.config settings regarding default encodings are correct for what kind of files are installed, but maybe there is something else about your IIS install that is forcing it to assume one way or another? I have no idea..

Re: Error: The XML page cannot be displayed
Many thanks. Yep, you picked it! It seems the problem was with my IIS install. I had been mucking around with other install options and discovered (after many hours of searching and testing) the problem about installing IIS after .net 2. So I did a repair of .net 2 and viola the beta install works!

Re: Error: The XML page cannot be displayed

Hi,

I am getting the same error message. I tried to change encodings and also I tried repairing .net framework 2.0 but none of them solve the problem...

This is very interesting. I have other dnn installations on the server as well but the new ones dont want to be installed for some reason.

I tried to install 4.0.3 and 4.3.5 and I got the same errors...

any ideas???
