C# in 4.3.5

HI - just installed 4.3.5 as C# templates were not showing in 4.3.4 !!

- now they are there BUT ... after installing a new C# module - AND performing all the manual updates (as stated in "Documentation.html") -- to change the name, add to  .. the site will not compile (VS 2005). ???

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hugh

Re: C# in 4.3.5

As I have not had any replies - I am trying to follow up on this myself.

Next step - I created a module in C#  from the templates and then deleted the generated directories: one from Appl_code and one from Desktop

So.. this ought to revert to the system (which worked) prior to my inserting a new C# module. But nope, can't display the default.aspx - seems to be compiling and linking (building) OK but permissions? are not correct?

I'd like to get on with developing but I'm not familiar with the inner workings of DNN and thus cannot do much debugging on this myself.

Cheers

Hugh

Well, I havent used 4.3.5 yet but I do recall in 4.3.4 that after changing the names in the App_Code and DesktopModules folder, whenever you are using C# module you must tell the compiler and you specified it in the web.config file under <codeSubDirectories> :

<!--register your app_code subfolders to generate granular assemblies during compilation -->

     <codeSubDirectories>

          <add directoryName="Change this to the name of your C# module"/>

    </codeSubDirectories>

If version 4.3.5 didnt provide this web.config update using the starter kit then this may be your problem.

Re: C# in 4.3.5

Thanks - that is documented and I did change it.

It appears as if I loose authorization to execute the default.aspx?? Would it have anything to do with SQL/NTFS configurations being changed during the C# module creation?

Cheers /hugh

Re: C# in 4.3.5

Make sure default.aspx is listed in IIS Manager|(your site)|Properties|Documents. If the default web site does not include this entry, new web sites will need to be manually configured every time you add a new virtual directory.

I don't think it has anything to do with C#.
