Forum 4.4.3 Upgrade FAQ's
Modified By Crispy on 10/24/2007 3:12:19 AM)

It is STRONGLY recommended that if you are upgrading from a version prior to 04.04.03 that you check all admin settings and per forum permissions after upgrade. There were major changes and additions and you should review all settings to ensure the forum operates as you expect. In fact, before upgrading module you should disable access to your forum pages except for administrators. You should also remove edit module permissions for all users except administrators (or roles you want to act as administrators). This is especially important for those in "Registered Users" role. Please check module as a Registered User role user before opening to public to ensure permissions are properly set.

Q. After upgrade, why are images broken in my forum theme?
A. The themes have completely changed, the only theme available to work is "Default" unless you created your own. Also make sure you have the appropriate image extension set, "png" for default.

Q. How do I enabled scheduled email tasks?
A. This must be done by a host user from the Host -> Schedule page. Once the Forum mail task is enabled, you can set it in the forum module at Admin -> Email screen.

Q. Do "Registered Users" still need edit module permissions?
A. No, in this forum version you should NEVER give Registered Users edit permission on the module. This now behaves as most other DNN modules do.

Q. Why do attachments only work for Admin users now?
A. You now set permissions for attachments in the Admin -> Manage Groups/Forums -> Forum Edit permissions grid. Remember, you also need a folder w/ read/write permissions set in DNN Core File Manager.

Q. How do I place images in posts?
A. Unlike previous versions, you now must handle image posting via your HTML Provider, which is FCKEditor by default.

Q. Is the Gallery project still integrated with the module for handling avatars or images?
A. No, images for posts are handled by HTML provider and Avatars are handled by the forum itself now and can be configured from Admin -> Avatars area.

Q. What version of DNN Core must I run to upgrade to Forum 4.4.3?
A. You must be running DNN Core 4.4.0 or greater and ASP.NET 2.0.
