There are many places in web sites/portals, where the use of a rich text editor is right and proper, but I don't think that either a wiki or a forum is one of them. Wikis and forums invite the general (not fuly trusted) user to contribute to the site and in these instances it is necessary to allow contributors to make their contributions look good. However, we as admins/hosts should be able to control the commands/tags that they are allowed to use.
The use of wikicode/BBCode or their equivalents is widespread and should be able to be adopted within DNN modules if hosts/admins require it, particularly Core offerings which invite user involvement. In this way, correct tag structure can be maintained, proper opening/closing of tags could be accomplished thus avoiding embarrassing page layout corruptions, and most importantly site security is more easily maintained as we have control over the commands/tags that the user has access to.
