Yes, the default folder is the "root" folder of your portal.
Yes, the folder that your FCKeditor uses for the "Brower Server" option can be "changed".
As portal admin and with your forum Admin->General Settings option "Disable HTML posting" unchecked
    1. start a New Thread in your forum
    2. click on the "Show custom editor options" which will open the FCKeditor's custom options page
    3. expand the "Other editor options" section
    4. set your default folder tree
    5. choose "Instance" from pulldown at bottom of dialog
    6. click "Apply"

The next time you click on the Insert/Edit Image control in your FCKeditor toolbar the folder tree for the "Browse Server" option should be restricted (just like this forum).

Hint: Make sure you have set the proper Role and User permissions in Admin->File Manager

Not too sure on this one, probably need to alter the FCKeditor provider source.

I think it is one of those things where the FCKeditor's purpose is to provide broader flexibility. The first screen you see after opening the Image control on the toolbar is so users may hyperlink to image files on other websites (such as there own 3rd party online photo album). And the "Browse Server" option is made available with proper Admin->File Manager permissions.

IMO, the best place to pose these questions is in the FCKeditor Provider (Lead: Mauricio Marquez) forum. You would probably get a more accurate and faster answer.

If you will give Forum Users permission to upload files you must give them write permission for the Folders who they can upload files over the Administartor - File Manger.

Also please think about the 8MB restriction from the web.config for Files to Up- and download.  If you like to allow biger upload you must modified the web.config.

Re: Attachments

Hi There.

Unfortunately in the Editor of Forum 04.04.03 there is no setting for Default Folder.....

The other solution i've read here in the forum is to disable the read right to all users on every folder but the forum-attachments-folder. But i have a lot of folders (due to a lot of galleries) and there is no way to inherit the right from top to bottom.

So in my opinion this case is still unresolved.

Kai
