DNN Forum Module performance - Slow

Hi Guys,

Recently I have noticed that our forum performance has been getting slower. Adding new posts and adding replies can take a while to come up and display with timeouts somethimes being reported. I have already implemented the following changes to the host performance settings:

  Clear Cache

The DNN site resides on a Windows Server 2003 based server (using IIS 6.0) connected to a MS SQL 2005 cluster for the DNN database. Am I using the best performance settings for the forum module, can I make further changes to improve performance?

Any help appreciated.

I suggest this settings:

Page State: Page
Module Caching Method: Disk
Performance Setting: Moderate Caching
Authenticated Cacheability: ServerAndNoCache
Ceompression Settings: No Compression

The issue can also be caused about, a full event viewer, a full Scheduler History, and a Full or Big database log.  Check this and clear it.

Re: DNN Forum Module performance - Slow

I typically use settings similar to what Matthias has. While I am sure there is room for improvement, there shouldn't be any major performance issues outside of search. I am having no issues zipping around the forum here and there are several hundred-thousand posts here. If you can use SQL Profiler, this will help you 'trace' what is taking long.
