Problem when I enable "Display Poster's Location:"...

When I enable this option, I found user from Taiwan will show..."Taiwan, Province of China"

How can I modify this string? It doesn't get from the system list...

I think this string is not accept for most Taiwan people....(This string would be the show stopper in Taiwan. It's on our TV news today~~)

Re: Problem when I enable "Display Poster's Location:"...

This is dependent on the Country Lookup GeoIP stuff. I don't think this is something that is editable. This is definitely not something that would be handled via the forum module.

Hi Crispy,

Did you mean the country information is got from outside of the DNN so it can't edit?....If this is true? Could you tell me where is the function get data.

Maybe I can try to modify the received data function directly after I got the data outside the website.

"Taiwan, Province of China" is not a acceptable term in Taiwan. Somebody may mad to burn your house if you dare to put a banner with "Taiwan, Province of China" in front of your house. Maybe other people can't image how this can happened in Taiwan. Most people in Taiwan will treat the person who agree "Taiwan, Province of China" as their enemy. This is totally a politic issue. Just like Islam hate America...You can see related news everyday on our TV news. Even our Present can't said Taiwan is the Province of China if he want to keep his position safely...

Unless someone want to be the hacker's target, nobody will use DNN's forum and enable "Display Poster's Loaction" function in Taiwan...

If this issue can't fix by the forum module directly, I wish somebody can tell me any possible way to workaround it. Thank you~~~~

Re: Problem when I enable "Display Poster's Location:"...

In the ForumUtils.vb file, there is a function called "LookupCountry". This function uses UI.WebControls.CountryLookup class, which is found in the CountryListBox assembly. This CountryListBox assembly matches an IP passed from the Forum module against the GeoIP.dat file that is located in Website\controls\ContryListBox\Data. In order to change what country name is displayed, you either have to get an updated .dat file or find a way to alter the existing one.
