I think the best solution would be to change the Avatar Control from the DNN Forum Module to a Core DNN Profile Property Control. I have not come across a better or more simpler image upload control then the one included with the DNN Forum Module. The Image Upload Control should reside inside the Core DNN Profile Property Editor and not in the DNN Forum Module. That way all module's can access the user's image including UDT or UserDirectory.
