Am i doing somehting wrong?

Or is the forum module just not very user friendly compared to some others out there for images, avatars and videos. Is it possible to just copy and paste the embeded imaging in the text box from like photobucket or youtube like you can with a VB forum. Do avatars have to be loaded to the site and then the person scroll through all the images on the site to find the one they uploaded to choose there avatar? I try to click insert/image to put a picture in a post and i am not sure what goes in the url box on the screen that comes up. how is the average user on a local discussion forum without any skills supposed to know how to do this? Can it be set up on my end to be more simple and user friendly?

Re: Am i doing somehting wrong?

Larry,

you must see some difference to the content of a post and the features of the forum.  The forum module used for the post content the FCK writer.  This is a own module which handles the content in it and safed it to a table of the forum module.  If you need other features for the content, you must have a other writer module which have the feature you needed or jou must write yur own, and a provider for it to the dotnetnuke.  There is no way to work with insert content in the fck as it worked.

About embeded I would inform you that all embed tags are not XHTML compliant.  Insert it to a content breaks the xhtml compliance of your site.  The avatar handling and image handling is user friendly.  But you have to set the pemissions for uploads in the file manager of the Portal.  Reading the user manual you can get from this page will help you to find out how it works.

Re: Am i doing somehting wrong?

For uploading images and files for users, there are also some restriction with the file ending on the host settings.  This have be handled from a host user.  Also you must setting up sme permissions for folders you want have there can users uploading files over the File Manager as admin or host.

I hope this helps you.
