Blog auto-show comments?

Is there currently a way to have the blog always display the comments?  Presently, there is just a link that says "View comments", and the user has to click that for all the comments to display.  I would like it to default to showing all comments when the user (anonymous or not) comes to the page.  Is there currently a setting or something that can turn this on ?

Thanks.

Re: Blog auto-show comments?

No, there is currently not a setting in place for this.  I have never even thought of it as an option.  I admit it isn't a bad one nor a difficult one to add.  The problem I see is that the comment system needs overhauled to begin with so incorparting it wouldn't be so bad when this happens.  Now enter the problem of where do we stop the options and how do we show the comments while making the most of the real estate and still keeping with a normal blog look (which we are striving to achieve.). By no means am I being critical of your idea, I like it.  It is just what else does this involve and what is the best avenue to achieve it.

Re: Blog auto-show comments?

hmmm, I see your point -- number of comments per page, sort order, etc. the list of comment options could get pretty long.  I guess what I was expecting was that all comments would simply be listed (just like they are after you've click "View Comments".

What I would like is a page that simply has a small "post" from me, and the comments are the central focus of the page.  I did not want a "forum" style, because I do not necessarily want the users responding to each other, just to my post.  And I did not want the user to have to click through multiple levels of navigation to get there.  So far, the closest I've gotten to achieving this is having a blog with a single post that has comments enabled.  Is there perhaps another type of module better suited to this?
