Forums won't show New Thread button

Hi, I'm new to dnn and I'm sure this is a configuration error, but I just can't get the users to be able to create new threads or post. The only 2 buttons that it shows is "Search" and "Forum Home"

This is happening in 2 installations in 2 different servers, with versions dnn 4.3 and 4.5. I'm using the forum version that comes with them.

My users are authorized registered users for the role "registered users" in both installations.

Where can I setup the permissions on the forums to automatically allow all the new authorized users to create new threads and to post?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Currently if I login as a registered and authorized user, I can't see the "New Thread" or "My Settings", or "My Posts" buttons anywhere.

Omar

Re: Forums won't show New Thread button

Omar,

You also need to give your users the edit permission on the forum module level. After you have done that they should be able to see the new thread button. This also gives them the My Settings" and  "My Posts"  buttons.

Cheers,

Marc

Re: Forums won't show New Thread button

hiwaytravel,

When you log-in as a admin or host your will be able to change these permissions through settings option of the module. You should be able to find this option at the top of your forum module (left or righthandside, depending of the used skin).

Good luck,

Marc

But Mark, whenever you do that you also give the simple and unknown “registered user” access to the menu in the top left of the forum module, yes the very same host module, now the “Register user” will have access to the “forum administration”> forum users, forum general settings, manage forum groups, you give him full control!!

Im having the same problem as Omar and yes I know you can just give users “Edit” power, but you indeed give them ALL the credentials to do whatever he wants to do with the forum

Any help is welcome!

Thank you all

Fher
