Search index not working
I am running core version 4.7 and the latest version of the forums module. Since I updated the forums the search engine is not indexing the forums. I have try re-indexing from the Host Search page but nothing from the forums ever gets index. Is anyone else seeing this?

Re: Search index not working

More Info... I figured out why the forums were not getting index by the search indexer. I am however not sure how to fix it.

The problem is the forum is a Private forum. If I change it to a public forum it gets indexed. I noticed this because I use the What's New module on my home page. This module uses the Search index items table to for data. It only shows items from this table that the user has rights to see.

Does anyone have any ideas on why the search indexer is unable to index private forums?

Re: Search index not working

Simply put, private forums cannot be indexed. Until the core search indexing can handle sub-level permissions this is not possible.

Re: Search index not working

Thanks Crispy. I will dig deeper into the core search code so I can understand this better.

BTW, did you see my other post about the Bug in your List Fix Script? Here is a link to that post.
