Forum Activity Notification on New Threads Only 

Is there a feature where a user can turn on notifications for a forum, but only receive notifications for new threads created and not replies on those new threads?

I have users that want to be aware of new threads started, and then decide on their own whether they want to subscribe to notifications on that thread conversation after that. This cuts down on the email notification traffic for things they're not interested in monitoring, while still making them aware of new threads that they may potentially want to observe and contribute to.

As far as I know this is not a feature that exists in the forum.
