Not to beat a dead horse but...

I'd REALLY like to know if the new bug fixed ver 4.4.4 is going to be released within my lifetime. I realize you peeps do this as a hobby and I understand & apprecciate that, however its been over 6 months since the new module was released. How much more 'testing' is there to do? My site is being held up as I don't have a forum set up as I am waiting for 4.4.4; I am not going to use the 4.4.3 due to all the obvious issues with it. I DO NOT want to go back to active forums as I am apposed to their product activation.

Please note I am not angry or feel a sense of entitlement, I respect the time you put into this great s/w package but 6+ months is a bit of a streach for a bug fix release IMO.

This is a open source project, and the team spends a lot of time in his free time.  The next version will be released when it is ready and tested.  Imo we get no schedule when this will do.  We can not know in what issues we are running on changes, so you have to wait between we notify that we go to release process.

Re: Not to beat a dead horse but...

And thats a fair reply, however then why dont you post the current release candidate with the disclaimer you use ar your own risk and no official support is given. This not only will get the fixes in the hands of people who are waiting but also expand your test bed of clients and people able to report issues more quickly.

You state this is a open source project well such places like sourceforge have the 'nighty build' folders for people who want the latest RC with the understanding its at their own risk and no support. I dont understand why that concept is so opposed here at DNN.

You're basically saying there is no time frame for a full release nor are you going to release hot fixes or a RC. So you just want people to wait indefinatly? No wonder 3rd party modules are as popular as they are with DNN. Its very unrealistic to ask what you are of your user base and expect them to stick around.

I do have a older version of active forums before they added the activation, look like ill pull out that module and call it a day.

Re: Not to beat a dead horse but...

Re DNN Core Forums...think of it as a free product, you get what you're given and don't expect too much as far as support/bug fixes are concerned.  If you don't like it there are always other options.

Re Active Forums with activation...well more and more modules, particularly the better ones, are enforcing their licensing in one way or another.  Again if you don't like that your options are pretty limitted.

Re: Not to beat a dead horse but...

It is a problem to support public beta versions.  Then it need more longer to get any bugfixes, about the project team is not on develope, they are then on supporting costumers issues.  Is this what you want?  Betas will only given to special testing teams, with members that obligedet to test and reply results.  You are free to use 3rd parity module.
