enable tables on horizontal dnnmenu

I posted this in the skinning forum as well, but I thought I would post it here since the people working on this project would be the most likely to have an answer.

The subject pretty much says it all.  How do I turn on tables in the DNNMenuNavigationProvider?  I am coding directly in the ascx file.

Thank you to anyone who can help me.

Re: enable tables on horizontal dnnmenu

Not sure the purpose of your question, but the default dnnmenu uses tables.  The current implementation has a UseTables property. The next version will support different rendermodes as mentioned in this blog and this one

These properties can be assigned via the CustomAttributes

<CustomAttributes>
  <dnn:CustomAttribute Name="UseTables"Value="1"/>
  <dnn:CustomAttribute Name="RenderMode"Value="Normal"/>
CustomAttributes>

Re: enable tables on horizontal dnnmenu

First of all, Jon, thank you for all that you do for dnn and especially the menus that make it all come together so well.  Also thanks for reviewing the questions on here.  Now, here's my issue:

I'm trying to create a menu at the top of the screen on this page www.gatewaytotheweb.com that is done similar to the bottom of the page.  I have a few images that I want on each side of the buttons.  I am getting that to work, but I am unable to get the images to lineup with the background in both IE and mozilla, and I am unable to get the menu text vertically aligned within the buttons.  I know how to do it all easily with tables, so I am trying to do that.

I tried what you gave me, but it made no difference--the main root items and the menu itself are all still in "span" tags.  I like the options to affect the styles of the menus and items separately, but I was hoping there was a way to replace the "span" tags with "td" tags in even the main menu bar.  Is that possible?

Thanks,

Owen

Re: enable tables on horizontal dnnmenu

No, it is not possible to make the root horizontal menu into a table.  You should be able to accomplish what you are looking for with css floats though.  I feel you pain, as I think tables are the easiest cross-browser solution to many problems...  however, many in the community would say they are evil and you can do almost anything with css... which is true if you entertain the idea of css hacks.  (I know this isn't much help, but its all I can offer right now).

Re: enable tables on horizontal dnnmenu

Thank you again for the input.  For this site I will probably just switch back to SolPartMenu for now then as I continue to learn the ins and outs of the new menu.  Thanks again for your help.
