Atlas and DNN

Excuse me if I'm asking something that is obvious, but I'm a little curious of the DNN Client API related to Atlas. I just had a look at www.live.com and www.start.com where Atlas is rather extreamly exposed.

How much of Atlas features can we make use of as we make PA's in DNN. 3.2/4.0. I've seen your examples, and understand that you have provided quite alot to make AJAX functionality available in DNN, but what I'm not quite sure of is how close/far your Client API are in feature and syntax related to Atlas.

I heavily depends of ICommunicate today, are there any features in the Client API that triggers a refresh of several modules as dynamic roundtrips or is this restricted to a module/control in singular? I guess that the call back are able to go to the default.aspx and some logic there manages the DHTML communication. This should open an opportunity to continue using iCommunicate if I manage to adress several modules in the same roundtrip.

I'm guessing here, and likes to hear some feedback on atlas compatibillity and opportunities to make use of ICommunicate in a atlas/client API scenario.

Cheers,
/Rob

Re: Atlas and DNN

Atlas is not available in a non-beta form yet so I am not sure you would want to integrate anything in your modules yet.  I think my views on how the ClientAPI and Atlas relate to each other are best expressed in my blog.

I am not familiar with icommunicate, however, writing a simple control that inherits from something like a div tag and utilizes a client callback to refresh its content should be pretty easy to accomplish.

Re: Atlas and DNN
Darn, i was really looking for your blog before I posted the above, but for some reason I didn't find it. (Don't ask me why!?).

However, your blog explains it all. Very nice.

The question arose as I started to think about compatibilities as DNN has been outstanding in every possible way and still is, there is changes going on, and interoperability is really essential in order to scale features, development and marketing.

ClientAPI/Atlas is no different, as the need to support WebParts.

Seems like DNN will stay on top with Atlas advanced (ClientAPI) supporting it's weaknesses.

Keep up the good work Jon! :o)

(I'm back to struggle to get my 3.2 up running so I can figure out how to make my treemenu rely on a specific parent tab.)

Cheers,
/Rob
