menu file big size! 

I'm using menu with DNN3.5 and i recently found that the most amount of my page is for spmenu.js(67) file, I was try to use two free tool from codeproject to compress this file , but jscript error ocuured , i don't know where can i found comressed version of this file.

I'm enabled the IIS6.0 compression but i want to compress js file before iis (i mean removing whitespaces and making variable name smallest).

You are aware that the js files are cached, correct?  In other words, it is only pulled down once (the first time).  The compressions tools typically try and remove the carriage returns, something that doesn't work well with the script.  If you set it to only remove excess white space you should have more luck.

I've always used this one here: http://www.creativyst.com/Prod/3/

It compresses the 67k file down to 50k and the 2130 lines down to 680. I'm not aware of it causing any problems so far.

IMHO, if you are doing compression in IIS I don't see the need to do JS specific (or CSS for that matter) compression. The IIS compression algorithm will take care of it. The JS and CSS files, being plain text, compress a lot. You can check your overall page compression ratio using the on-line tool at www.port80software.com. In addition, using just the IIS compression will prevent you from having to deal with the JS compression process, which may introduce errors.

By the way, make sure that your IIS compression settings are setup to also compress the dynamic content (ie: aspx extensions).
