Re: Prototype or Mootools with DNN ClientAPI?

I'm not sure I follow your reply, Charlie? I did reread Jon's post. How would I use Prototype or the ".Extend" method to make mootools behave?

Another quick questions since you have been down this path before, Smooth Slideshow and I assume Mootools are under the GNU License agreement. Can I legally use this in my custom DNN module and sell my module without providing the source code to my custom module?

Re: Prototype or Mootools with DNN ClientAPI?

Prototype and MooTools are distinct Javascript frameworks... my (and Jon's) point above is that Jon already used the Prototype "Extend" method in his function declaration for "$()" in the DNN ClientAPI, so the functionality available in the Prototype framework should be available if you desire to use this framework.  As for MooTools, you'd possibly have to change Jon's core code in the DNN CientAPI to get it to work... I wasn't able to.

I'm not sure about the licensing aspect... I assume including the source would be a safe bet, but you should probably check that out with someone more qualified to answer.

Re: Prototype or Mootools with DNN ClientAPI?

From what you have told me, this is the offending javascript in my mootools code. To get this to work, I don't want to modify the DNN javascript at all. Now, I'm at a loss as to how to modify this to fix the problem. Recall that the exception happens when I hover over a menu item such as "Home".

function

$(el){if ($type(el) == 'string') el = document.getElementById(el);if ($type(el) == 'element'){if (!el.extend){return el;else return false;

Unload.elements.push(el);

el.extend = Object.extend;

el.extend(Element.prototype);

}

}

};
