Fast forms with DNN?

Good morning,

DNN is awesome.  My question is:  How do I use DNN for making "fast web forms" for ADD, UPDATE, DELETE, etc. on simple new tables, when our end users come up with them?

EXAMPLE
We use a wizard to make forms quickly, for ADD, EDIT, DELETE, LIST, and EXPORT.  Here is an example of a set of web pages I made this morning in about 5 minutes (feel free to add and edit records to see what the web pages do:

Whenever one of our end users comes up with a new table, we depend upon this wizard to "webify" the table, because it takes about 5 minutes from start to finish. Here are some screen shots of the wizard, to give you an idea of how it works:

Million Dollar Question:  HOW TO DO THIS IN DNN?
Now, we need a way to make these forms in 5 minutes inside our DNN portal, whenever anyone comes up with a new table like the one in the example.

This is where I am stuck, because I keep envisioning I need to write a custom module for every new table someone comes up with.  Maybe I can make the new custom modules in a few hours, but that seems like too much work, just for webifying a SQL Server table.

I am thinking someone here can fill me in on how to deal with this in the DNN way.

As always, any information will be appreciated immensely.

Best regards,
Dan Allen

  • this is the wrong forum for your subject
  • have a look at UserDefinedTable module (though current version does not support export).

My example

DotNetNuke® Case Study: Dynamicforms

Alows you to gather information by just creating a form. Perhaps you can use it as a starting point? UDT Tables is also a good compete module..

Re: Fast forms with DNN?

OK, I'll see what I can do with the User Defined Tables module.  Thanks for the help.  I'll let you know how it works out.  This sounds like it could be what I am looking for, so my fingers are crossed.

You can try a third-party module like http://components.init.si/. Iz takes 5 minutes to create a form...
